LMG says: Welcome to my BLOG “Food and Travel with LMG”.
Hi! I'm Lani M. Garcia, a 27year old Food lover from Cebu City Philippines. I have always loved food way back when I was 5 years old watching culinary shows at Discovery Channel. I took College of Dentistry a couple of years ago and yes I’m currently scared of dentists STILL. Who’s not right? :D
Five years later I graduated Culinary and Pastry School and started right away a fun new cake business disguised under the name “LMG Pastry Chef”. I love my job!!!!
Join me as I dine, sip coffee, savor the best chocolates and pastries and critic some of the world’s greatest and comforting restaurants, coffee and pastry shops. Whether it be a simple diner serving my favorite comfort food or extravagant restaurants serving Iron Chef Material, I’m there or will be there pretty soon. It’s my dream to dine in Michelin starred restaurants after all. With my “bestest” friends and family, together lets go around town and enjoy. As Wolfgang Puck puts it, “Live! Love! and Eat!”. Who knows where we could go next. Suggest your favorite city we could visit soon, invite us to your beautiful towns & together let us celebrate ……..GREAT FOOD!

September 18 2011, LMG says: I had been super excited for this particular Cake order from Mr. and Mrs. Buenaventura. Julianne, their daughter wanted a "Candy Land" theme inspired from Katy Perry's music video California Girls. Katy is my favorite favorite artist first of all and second I had been waiting for a grand candy inspired Cake order for a long time now! I have been making a lot of Birthday cakes and cupcakes now. It's always standard: Round table + cake in the middle and goodies around. This time it was different. We Had the venue Casino Espanol set up 2 long rectangle tables so we can arrange all the sweets in a Buffet style just like modern American parties. Hope you enjoy the sweet photos!
Katy is just beautiful and who wouldn't want a party set up like Katy's video "California Girls"? I know I would!

Here's the colorful outcome. I wanted the entire setup colorful, kiddie, modern and pretty.
It was a very long table. One hundred and ninety two inches to be exact. All in all the guests could happily pick from these choices:

-80 pieces Assorted Cookies
(Gingerbread Man, Ice Cream, Cupcake and Pinwheels)

-80 pieces Cake Pops
(Choco Fudge & Red Velvet)

-2 Towers of Croquembouche
( Vanilla and Strawberry Filled)

-18 pieces Large Cupcakes
(M&M Coated, Chocolate Frosted Peanut butter Cupcakes & Raspberry Swirled, Vanilla Frosted Red Velvet Cupcakes)

-60 pieces Cupcake Minis w/ Rainbow Colored Frosting
(Peanut butter, Red Velvet, Mocha & Cookies n Cream)

-24 pieces Ice Cream Look-a-Likes
(Red Velvet-Vanilla Cream & Choco Fudge-Choco Cream)

-90 pieces Rainbow Oreos

-1 Rainbow Velvet Cake

Julianne, the birthday girl is turning 6 years old today.

Ice Cream Look-A-Like
One Ice Cream Look-A-Like was made of a giant Cake Pop Ball frosted with a Vanilla or Chocolate Cream to resemble an ice cream, topped with a colorful party spoon and cone.

These beautiful boxes were prepared by my mom and aunts. Thank you so much to Mom, Tita Virgie, Auntie Nene and Auntie Cherry for helping me prepare these colorful boxes!

The Slicing/ Blowing Cake was a Rainbow Velvet Cake. This is composed of 6 colorful layers of Velvet Cake.
One of the two Croquembouche Towers. This was Vanilla filled while the other was Strawberry filled.

Wikipedia:croquembouche or croque-en-bouche is a French pastry, a pièce montée that is often served at weddings, baptisms, and first communions. It is a high cone of choux/ cream puff filled with pastry cream that can be dipped in chocolate bound with caramel, and usually decorated with threads of caramel, sugared almonds, chocolate, flowers, or ribbons. They are also often covered in macarons, a small pastry consisting of two layers and a flavored cream or ganache.[1]
The name comes from the French words croque en bouche meaning 'crunch in the mouth'.

The entire Grand Ballroom of Casino Espanol was beautifully decorated by "Parties by Agel".
When I entered the room, W-O-W came out of my mouth. It was so vibrant! They even had separate mini tables and mini chairs for the kids alone. More shiny balloons glistened from the chandeliers! I was either with Alice in Wonderland or a carnival or better.. Katy and her California Girls! The chairs were so adorable with their fluffy pink covers. Fat cupcake shaped balloons were centerpieces for every table. Just Adorable!

Thanks for taking a look at my work. If you're from Cebu City Philippines and wants a grand themed party, let me know! I would love to make something for you!
